What are wellness teas and why you need them in your life
There is a Chinese proverb that says, “Drinking a daily cup of tea will surely starve the apothecary.” I love this quote.
I also love botanicals - there is something so magical about greenery, making me feel inspired and calm. I love nothing better than walking around glass houses in botanical gardens. In another life I would love to be a Botanist but for now I can appreciate the beauty through amateur eyes and an iPhone camera.
When I founded Botanic Co. I knew that creating wellness tea blends would be the first thing I would do. As a regular tea addict, I knew this would be the quickest and easiest way to revamp my wellness routine. I read a lot of Ayurveda, a 5,000 year-old system in India built around natural healing and the blending of medicinal teas. From there I also discovered the world of adaptogen superherbs and I became obsessed!
I knew my regular cup of tea wasn't bad for me - research shows that tea is naturally packed with antioxidants and other good-for-you things but I started to think what if I could create a blend that is 'supercharged' with natural goodness. If I'm drinking at least 3 cups of tea a day anyway what if I make them count even more and get extra health benefits. So that's when Botanic Co. was born. As I am not a trained herbalist I knew I needed to find the right people to work with and found an amazing herbalist tea specialist who worked with me to refine my formulations and make sure we struck the right balance between taste and health benefits. No point throwing lots of healing plants together if the don't taste great.
I've researched every ingredient we put into our tea blends to make sure they really can boost wellbeing from different aspects such stress, sleep, skin, immunity, digestion, focus, hormone and fertility.
On a wellness journey every small step can make a difference, and introducing daily wellness teas into your armour is a super simple step to take. I think there is still a perception that the world of wellness costs lots of money - from luxury spas to the latest fads - but I believe wellness and self-care should be accessible to everyone and it shouldn't be out of reach to make self-care a daily ritual. We've all heard about the importance of mindful moments and what better way to incorporate a mindful moment than the art of tea making? From selecting the leaves to preparing the water, the steeping process and the sound of pouring can engage the senses in a meditative way.
So whether you're looking to give your wellness practice a bit of a boost, or are looking for something a little more interesting to drink once you've had enough coffee for the day, wellness tea could be just the thing you need in your life.
